No New Posts Summary results from the online angler survey (Preview)
Summary results for the first three years of the online angler survey are posted below. Assigning significance to the data obtained from angler surveys is usually difficult from a science standpoint. That said, it is still an important tool for DFG's evaluation of the fishery.  2008: 1002  Fish, 3...

No New Posts Another Tough Day at Putah (Preview)
Not much to say, went to putah today and fished from from noon til dark. No fish, no takes. this makes 3 goose eggs in a row at putah and one at AR. Next week I think I'll go to the stanislaus, its usually a good slump breaker.

No New Posts Fly Fishing Film Tour (Preview)
Anyone going to the film tour stop in Sac on the 7th?  If you haven't been to one in the past I would suggest checking it out.  Pretty cool films from all over.  Who knows maybe one day we can put together a little short about Putah.

For the history buff, go to the link below where you can find over 400 photos of the process of building the dams. Pages 16-22 show the floods of 55-56, pages 46-49 show the 128 bridge and what the creek looked like there before the dam was started. http://www.watershedportal.net/gallery/album06

No New Posts Flows (Preview)
Ive been watching the flows for sometime now, and they have been fluctuating between 120 and 65. I know there are no more salmon coming up the rivers, so what is the reasoning behind the 2 days at 120 then 2 days at 65, then back up again. Its been doing this since Jan 8th.

No New Posts Regulations still unclear? (Preview)
Its worth repeating that the whole length of the creek from Monticello Dam to the tip of the island below Access 5 is where  the special regs (year around barbless, artificials only, take) are in effect. Lake Solano is being enforced under a 5 fish limit, bait can be used, interpretation of the reg. O...

Three of us ran into Warden Sheeley on the creek this week as he was writing down our license plate numbers before heading down to the water to check on us. He thanked us for saving him the effort to track us down on the water. He was glad to hear about our projects on the creek for the fishery and our educati...

No New Posts Food For Thought ( 1 2 ) (Preview)
I haved fished Putah for many, many years. Having experienced what an outstanding fishery Putah was in the past, I am saddened to see what it has become over the past few years. I realize that there are several members of this forum who can and have told the same story. There are many theories as to w...

Hello board its been a long time since my last post, but what i saw at the creek this past Sunday was quite disturbing.  As I was heading to a spot that I usually start my day at I noticied something large and red submerged of the bank. As I got closer to the waters edge passing empty KFC bags an empty mason jar...

No New Posts How About A Fresh Idea To Help Lake Solano? (Preview)
I am primarily a kayak fish, but I also fly fish Putah.  On occassion I like to paddle Lake Solano if not only to get outside and L.S. is close.  I have a fish finder on my yak and have been really surprised by how much of a wasteland L.S. has become in terms of fish.  Obviously the stocking is what held up the p...

No New Posts Why do you fish? (Preview)
I have been pondering this question recently. Why choose to go to a creek, river or lake with rod and reel in hand? Why not just take a pair of hiking shoes and a camera or maybe a pair of binoculars to observe the wildlife?  Im currently formulating my own response but I would enjoy hearing others thought...

Hello All, I have been lurking these pages for a couple of years now and thought I should introduce myself.  As a Winters native I have fished the creek all my life and pronounce it as Pu-tah not Pootah as I hav heard many of you say.  I am not one to really post on forums but I will chime in from time to time.  I...

One Weight had a great idea to settle the Redds discussion. I will use my considerable clout to bring some celebrity contestants for an exhibition to our octogon. I might as well get this topic started. A few fish a starting to pair up in certain areas of the creek getting ready for this spawning season. Usually spawn goes in full swing in December through the end of February. So on that note, if you care about the creek just flat out don't fish it during those 3 month...
