Spent a day with PCT director Steve Karr, Bernie Westin, and Mike Glazeski conducting a side-channel survey... We worked around Deer Sign. The flows were up to 470ish so the side channels were actually flowing pretty well. I don't often fish the Summer high waters... I've just never really put in the time. I was surprised that these side channels looked so great.
We surveyed three sites placing monuments, conducting measurements and marking the GPS locations. The work was HARD - I know I was wiped out that night!
Really hoping that this work will help improve an already special fishery! Just the start!
