Thus far I have a total of 4. We can work with any number who are available. Ideally I would like to have 4 more volunteers. This is the type of grassroots work that needs to be done for the regs change to be effective. If anyone else can join us it would be appreciated. Thanks.

Work has busted loose big time and I'm going to have to work this Saturday, so I will have to reschedule this Informational Posse. Thank You all for stepping up to bat. I know that I will not be available on any Saturday during May as I will be working each saturday.

I was out on Friday and had a quick check of the regs. signs of the ones that I know of they all seemed to be in place except for the one beneath the angler survey box at the upper bridge parking lot. i was not able to replace it as the entire plywood board had been ripped off, but there other visable signs in that area. So just an FYI for our next "posse" we'll need to bring some back boards along..

Also I spoke to 4 for "gear" fisherman who did not know about the new regs. I had a chat to them and let them know. The 2 that I met at the Bridge parking lot were rigged up for bait but promptly changed to barbless spinners. So far my experince talking to most of the guys has been quite positive and altough some have expressed there frustration at not being able to keep fish most understand. I hope they didn't just ignore it all after I left, but as I have said, so far my experience with it has been good. How have the rest of you found it??

To date I haven't spoken to any other anglers on the river apart from a guy who was changing out of his waders on the road side a week ago. He asked me if I was "killing the fish" to which I replied "I hadn't even seen a fish let alone caught one". He must have been a regular because of his knowledge of the fishery.It's heartening to see that you guys are trying to drive the point home about the new regulations.

My only suggestion is that it might be useful to post the same regulations in an additional language. I'm not trying to go all "Arizona" on Putah creek but we have a major problem in Ireland with Eastern European emigrants not being able to under the English signs. Yes, people can speak English but reading it is another situation entirely. As a result, all fishing regulation signs at home are printed with the top four or five most used languages printed on them.

Thanks for the suggestion. We have considered multi-language signs and may put some up in the near future.

I think multi language signs are a good idea. Maybe the signs should include a picture ? Those of you that have been to the east carson I'm sure you've noticed the large sign with the barbed hook circled and crossed out. Have a pic of a barbed hook circled and crossed out then next to it have a barbless hook not crossed out, Maybe even have a pic. of a worm crossed out next to a spinner that is not. Thats just an idea I had. I think that if signs are to be changed the existing ones should be replaced and just a few more added maybe. We all want the new regs. enforced strongly, But I doubt anyone wants to see every other tree along the creek covered with signs.

Some might say there is a bit of overkill on the signs right now. We would like to see permanent signs, painted lettering carved into wood planks like you see at many parks, etc., and only at key access points. They are more "natural", blend in better, but are at the same time more noticeable. Yolo County, who regulate signage postings, would also be happier. Any one out there with wood working skills that would like to volunteer if we provide the planking?
