I won't say anything bad about Simms. I think the L2 is a fine wader if you want something lightweight with standard Gore-Tex. But you may want to look at Patagonia as an option. You can get a full on guideweight wader at $350 that has a waterproof and breathable membrane that's just as reliable as standard Gore-Tex. I have walked through thorny trails, and my Patagonias have not sprung a leak. Also if you ever have issues, Patagonia has probably the best customer service in the industry.
