And hotter than hell too. CHP cycles on Pleasnts Valley rd.i was only saved by the slow truck in front of me, ( whom I was cursing at the time ), and surpise surprise, the Warden was at #5. He popped a couple who were bait fishing on the front side and told me that he had not been down on 5 for years. Bully for him...
I found a small fly box at the creek this morning. (Sorry Rich, it wasn't anywhere near the staircase.) If anyone else lost one and can tell me the location they were fishing and describe the box and contents I will gladly return it to its owner.
Caught 2 and moved one that was easily over 2'. Didnt see a whole lot of fish activity. Not sure if this is concerning especially with the bass population? Did manage to pull a 23-25" to make up for the low numbers. I'll take that one fish any day of the year. -- Edited by Rossflyguy on Saturday 19th of Augu...
Anyone else going to give it a shot? I am curious to know if the fish are willing to play Monday. Hoping the event doesn't throw things off for a few days afterwards. However, we could get two morning hatches...
New member here. Decided to stop by to get a couple hours of fishing in and I found some sunglasses today (Sunday, Aug 13). If you lost sunglasses please describe them and I will gladly return them. - Derek
Always been curious as to why a lot of the bows I catch at PC have large orange slits under their chin. I've seen it almost exclusively on all the fish I catch larger than 16". I know they aren't cutbows, just thought it was interesting and haven't seen it on any other large Bows I've caught in CA. Could it be...
Hey fishing folks, if anyone is near access point 5 please keep a look out for a brown 4 1/2 ft section of a fly rod. I lost it today on the opposite side of the road on the trail. it's a bit of an heirloom and I searched for an hour with no luck Happy fishing and thank you!
I was fishing between access 4 and 5 last Monday and had pretty good response from the fish to the flies I was offering. It started from the time I got there and lasted to the time I left. Caught 13 fish in 5 hours. Not a impressive amount but a lot better than I have done lately. It was actually the best day at P...
I have had a number of people ask me various questions about the Putah Creek Angler survey form that is posted near the top of the Forum board.? First, let me explain why the information on these surveys is important and who is using the information.? I, along with a group of concerned Putah Creek angler...

Anyone know what fly these are? They kind of look like PMD's. I also saw a couple nice sized caddis, much bigger than the bugs I normally see. Olive bodies with black heads and darker wings. I tried fishing a fox's caddis nymph which matched it really well, but no hookups on it.
Trying to thin out the quiver here. I bought this last year and have fished it twice. Make an offer. -- Edited by skylerjohnb on Sunday 16th of July 2017 06:16:09 PM
Hey can you guys keep an eye out for 3 kayaks? I found one and plan on going back thursday to get it but there are still 2 missing so please let me know if you find them and I will or better yet just grab them and call me or solano county sheriff or winters Fire. I was fishing the creek today when it all went south a...
Yet another fire next to the creek. This marks 4 summers in a row. It went from 80 acres this afternoon to 1000 this evening. At this point it is 15% contained with a DC-10 ordered. Hopefully it is undercontrol by tomorrow.
I was driving home from Deer Creek when I saw a big plume of smoke over Winters. And now I hear that yet again, there's another grass fire. I wish that God would cut that place some slack.
...but not many fish. I only caught 1 fish. Wet waded because of the heat. The good thing is that there were tons of flies coming off. BWO's and some other tan and olive mayflies. And they were coming off consistently from 3-8 PM. I'm not sure why I couldn't find the fish, though, because there were...
Hey Guys, caught a guy using power bait at section 1 on Friday. I informed him of the regulations and he apologized and left. He said he had no clue it wasn't allowed. Right after that I found four containers of worms and other trash left on the bank (I filled my net up with all the litter). Can we get more sig...
Hey everybody, Ted here visiting from Houston, TX. My sister is getting married on Saturday so we decided to make a week of it and got a house in Sonoma. It a beautiful place but it's wine country and I don't drink... I was hoping to get into some fish while I was here and brought my gear. I went to Lelands but...
Decided to escape the heat of Sacramento for the next few days and headed out to Half Moon. Anyone know if there are still any resident fish in the creeks just south Half Moon Bay? San Gregorio, Butano, Pescadero Etc.
Finally found some fish! I caught 4 out of a little riffle with a nice little ledge/chute in it. Then I went cold for a few hours and then it turned on! I caught 4-5 fish on the next 10-12 casts. It was super fun! Most in the 12" range.
Where are they hiding?!?! Fished brown, green, red, black in multiple patterns. Nothing. I think there were some BWO's coming off. Some other tiny mays, too.
Anyone fish near big tree state park near Arnold, CA? I fished it for about 30 min last year and caught a small Brookie. It looked like hard wading access.
