Played hookie from house duties today and headed up to the creek arriving just after noon. Geared up and started fishing a section below the old caretakers trailer (seems there was a fire there and the trailer is gone now). I had a couple of grabs and landed 1 fish around 12" or so on a #18 red midge.
I realized I forgot my fishing license and was heading up the creek toward my car when a bait fisherman yelled across the creek if it was still bait season. I stated yes and he acted very relieved as he just saw F&G stop up on the road. Needless to say I hid
Had lunch on a rock up on the sidehill and crossed the creek back to my car about 30 minutes later. An hour later I was doing yardwork
Water is typical winter flows and very clear for Putah at least in the section I was at.
