Got out to the creek around 6:30 PM today.

Had the best day I've had on the creek in some time.  Having just come back from a trip up north (Oregon rivers and the Upper Sacramento), I was of a mind to stick with Dry flies as nymphing putah can be such a hassle with all the brush on the banks and algae/weeds on your flies.  So, I tied on a size 16 tan E/C caddis with a midge pupa dropper and proceeded to catch 12 or 13 trout, with 10 or so coming on the dry.  Fish weren't actively feeding on the surface, but a good drift in likely water would draw strikes.

Never had a dry fly day like it on Putah.  Usually, if they aint a risin, they wont take flies on top.  Well, today, well presented drifts were rewarded.  Interestingly, though, no flat water takes, only riffly pools were working.  Saw a few fish up in the flat above the split, but I couldn't entice em.  Pocket water was the ticket.

Most fish were 10-13 inches and I LDR'd two fish that probably went 16 inches.

All wild rainbows and all feisty.
