nice fish, but i'm sure alot of people would be a little ticked that you kept it. But in my opion it is completely your choice if you keep your wild fish. the red meat ones are most excellent eating.

yeah good call iam totaly a hook and release person but this guy was hungry and swollowed the hook and somehow during the reeling process his jaw skin/area got mangled, he ended up dying on me, he was bleeding everywhere =[  it sucks cause i would have loved to catch that guy again.  at least my girlfriend knows i actually catch fish up there now lol. she always teases me that i tell fish stories.  this was the 2nd fish that died on me this season, i hope there is no more.

Do the lures you use have treble hooks? Barbs?  If so, that might cause significant damage to the jaw/gills of any fish who happened to strike.

If you are a catch and release fisherman, then crimp the barbs on your hooks and say no to treble hooks.

If you already crimp your barbs and don't use treble hooks, then disregard.  Sometimes, fish die in the process of being caught.  In any event, nice fish.
