Speaking of browns, on Friday 6/16 I went out in the afternoon when it was 104 degrees, at about 3pm. I hooked into a monster brown! I had the sucker on for about 20 minutes and just couldn't land him. He didnt start to come to the surface tell the end, and I say he cause when he came to the surface he had a nice hook jaw. My buddy snatched my net and I went about 100 yards or more down stream, and when the fish got close to my friend, my friend yelled he aint gonna fit in your net! and i use a 18" net. He had to be way over 20+ inches, put in the end I tired to force the fish to turn more towards my buddy (like an idiot!) and my 7X tippet snapped! All that work for nothing, but thats all part of the game. I usially get a couple of browns a year, but usially right before the fall. (Late Sept early Oct.) Before they start spawning. For the people out there who know where they spawn and try to mess with them, that aint cool! Leave them alone! I got into it last year with 2 other fly fishermen because they were trying to snag them out of the beds with big buggers. I had to say my part along with a couple of four letter words.. but anyways just respect the creek and all the fish. I consider myself a local to the creek, and I don't like to see it mis-treated in any way. I fished this creek for once or twice a week for 4 years now, and I just like to see it respected, because its one of my farvorite places in northern california. So anyways keep it clean and good fishing!
