fished last friday landed 4 lost 7, dont know why I lost so many fish just one of those days. Second time fishing the creek. Hooked 3 very nice nice fish. Had two fish come up and hit my indicator so decided to throw on an egg patern same color as my indicator(bright orange) immediately hooked 3 fish lost the first two so dont know if it was on the egg pattern or the zebra midge that I was using, finally landed the 3rd one and he had taken the egg patern!!!! Has anyone else had sucess using eggs? Going to fish again this friday, creek is up about half a foot this week so fish might not be in the same spots? Any recomendations for higher flows? Also spent half the day picking moss of my flies not fun.

I never tried the egg pattern...I was up there last friday also. Picked up a couple.

Where were you hitting the moss ? I fished one stretch that seemed pretty clean but still picked up moss. Water seemed to be moving fairly quickly through the rapid areas...

Good luck on your journey today.

i can deal with the hgh flows but i cannot deal with the amount of moss, i fished today and within seconds of almost every drift the fly loads up with moss. at this point i consider the creek almost unfishable due to this, it is so frustrating. so i personally would not recomend fishing putah creek at this time. 6 hours produced one 8 inch bueatifully colored wild rainbow, and thats it. think i'll get out the bass gear and float tube and head up to berryessa.

I agree, I fished friday for about an hour, landed nice 10 inch wild bow but got frustrated with cleaning the moss of my fly every cast.

You-all just have to lighten up on the amount of wieght you're using and employ some agressive mending to slow down you're fly and swing it to the bottom or near it.Don't get me wrong you will still get moss every once in a while but its not enough to become frustrating.
