Gents:

Been years since I posted, probably since 2010, back before I moved away from CA.  About the time we started PCT and got the regs changed... Big hello to my long lost PC brethren.  Thought I’d share a photo of a beautiful trout from Upper Mohawk Lake above Breckenridge, about 11,500 - 12,000 FT.  Incredible biomass in such a high, clear alpine lake.

Hope you enjoy...

Hey Jerry good to hear from you!! I lived in Crested Butte, CO for a summer riding mountain bikes and helping some friends build a house. Are you living in Colorado now? Nice fish there! There is some guy that lands a bush airplane on the island of the Yuba to fish around the egg bite every year. I always think that is something Jerry would do. The fish are safe and healthy on Putah because of your help. Tight lines!

Great looking fish. I've spent a lot of time in the mountains but never topped 11k. High elevation has a wonderful charm to it, and something I truly miss since moving to Michigan.

I can remember somebody landing a bush plane on an island off of Too Handy back in the early 90's around late Jan or early Feb. I'd be surprised if it wasn't the same person.

Otter! How I miss those days on the Yuba during the egg bite.  Some of my best days fishing alone were in Oct/Nov starting at the park and walking up as far as I could, fishing every redd, slot, and hole on the way.  Those brutes always left my right arm worn out.

Perhaps I'll be back in CA for this year's egg bite, and be able to visit Putah again.

The regs were totally a team effort; I was just happy to be part of it.

Best

Jerry

Give a call if you are in town. The dry fly fishing seems to have improved since the floods of the past few years have flattened out the cobble and rocks. Way more fun watching the Yuba sprinters grab your fly!! Cheers
