Break In at Access #5
Permalink

While fishing today at access 5 the passenger's side window of my car was shattered. Time was somewhere in between 10:30am and 11:30 am. No fishing gear was taken, but a Black Backpack with my school supplies was taken.

I am posting this as both a warning for anyone who leaves gear in their car. Be careful with what you leave exposed. Even backpacks are on the radar of these a-holes.

And I am also reaching out, if anyone happens to find a Black Backpack with Neon Green Zippers in a trash bin or on the side of the road somewhere near the creek. I'd like my notebooks, calculator and textbooks back...

Look out for eachother, this fly fishing community is a small but strong one. It's a shame that people like that are out there.

Thanks for the help and tight lines.

When I packed out yesterday (Mon) I noticed a tan (or faded gold) Toyota Corolla with occupants sitting in the lot at the bridge. Today, I saw the same vehicle cross the road (dam side lot) and enter the lot below the bridge and slowly drive around until they saw me. Late 80s or early 90s 4-door Toyota Corolla, 2-female occupants aged in their 20's. Unfortunately, I didn't catch the plate number.

As I was driving home I noticed the same vehicle pulling out of access 3. I should have turned around and followed them...

Sorry to hear about loss Jose.
Thanks for posting, letting all know that the dirt bags are back. Also a reminder that everyone should be careful of what you leave in your car. Keep all items out of sight if possible.

There has been a big increase in smash and grabs all over the Bay Area, especially in San Francisco.
Will keep my eyes open for your items and for those suspicious folks who look out of place.

Would be nice if the Winters Police or Sheriffs Department would patrol the parking access area on a regular basis.

Gary

So sorry Jose! I often leave my doors in my car and at home unlocked. This way, it saves you the cost of a window. Locks and gates only keep honest people out, unfortunately.

I used to put a note on my window which said: absolutely nothing of value in my car....I will prosecute to the full extent of the law.

It would be kinda fun to rig a car with surveillance and leave a laptop on the front seat. It would be really nice to hear a story about someone going to jail for this crap. I'm not sure why the sheriff hasn't done this yet. Seems like all it would take is one day.
