its not the tree blocking the trail im worried about , it the one dead antgetting ready to fall . look at it its hanging right over the trail , I just worry it is going to fall on someone
Richard, that goes for most of the creek. I constantly warn people not to be near burnt timber if the wind pipes up. I personally have had 2 large limbs fall way too close for comfort, and I stay away from access 4 and downstream of the bridge if it is blowing. We cant denude the hillsides for safety, and it's illegal to boot.
I like the plantings I see around #5, but I don't think some of them are doing well. trees often need 1 gal / day for the first year. that is not happening.
Focus on the new growth, not clearing out the old.
I cant believe you guys are defending a dead tree and sceinic beauty over public safety, if that tree kills someone or even worse a child maybe one of you can explain why we didnt remove it to the family
I reiterate, it is AGAINST THE LAW. None of us has the right to decide what to do about thinning trees in a PARK. That is the job of the state and county.
Richard, come on. You called me with the hope of
1. You could borrow a chainsaw to cut the downed tree across the trail.
2. Goad me into cutting the downed tree across the trail.
You mentioned how you wanted to cut that tree out because it was a hindrance to you and your clients (many of which wee old) and did not want to have to hike around it.
Then you come on here asking to barrow a chainsaw BUT then claim it is for standing dead timber and NOT the tree on the ground. Which one is it bud?
Cutting standing dead timber sounds like a good way to get rid of valuable habitat to me. Leave the damned tree (s) alone.
.......I cant believe you guys are defending a dead tree and sceinic beauty over public safety, if that tree kills someone or even worse a child maybe one of you can explain why we didn't remove it to the family ..........
Cut down the dead and standing tree for the sake of the children? Really? Lets make the woods safe for everybody, outlaw entrance or make people wear bubble suits to go in the woods. Are you going to move rocks off the trail next?. They are trip hazards. A little rug rat could split his head on one of those evil rocks and then you would have to explain that to the parents.
Both of those trees ARE part of the experience.

Respectfully, Richard, I think you are overstepping your rights to this public space with the idea of altering the area for your desires. This, in conjunction with your guide shack concept, is a bit much.
I dont know I kind of think cool someone cares enough to keep things safe for others useing the creek and people less familiar with the outdoors , BTW I called steve and asked him to contact the person responcible for that area to see if they could address the hazardous trees and blocked trail further down , thanks for caring and not and attacking me like a few others did ,
Definitely you are coming from a considerate perspective, but people's values and motivations differ and it is public space so it's really up to the public works to decide how to treat the area.
I hope the county doesn’t to anything to remove that tree. It’s not a designated trail by the state. Just a worn path made by fisherman. Most likely they’ll leave it alone.

You should borrow a chainsaw and go in there at midnight to fell a bunch of trees and block the rest of the trails. Better use of your time and the chainsaw. .JK.
