I've been looking for alternatives to PC. Spent 3 hrs fishing the American River about 5 miles below Kyburz on Hwy 50.

It's beautiful water, easy to fish even without waders. I caught well over a dozen rainbows nymphing with a Tenkara rod. The fish are smaller than your typical PC trout but are eager to grab the fly and not too shy.

It's 2 hrs 15 minutes drive from Vallejo. Not too far from there is the Silver Fork of the American. I hear it's also fishing well. I'll be trying it later this week.
