Does anybody have a pattern/size suggestion for the little dinks that are rising in the morning?  There were plenty of rises at all of the places I fished today.  It would be fun to target them with some light gear.  I fished for about 4 hours this morning for two decent fish.  The catching wasn't the greatest but the fishing was nice.  One fish on a #16 dark lord and the other fish on a #12 crane fly lol.  I threw the regular putah micro stuff as well but found it entertaining to try something odd.

I saw caddis and BWO's coming off last evening. Dark bodied caddis seems to work in the eve.

A very pale olive X-caddis with light deer hair for a wing in the morning. Let it hang after the swing. Giving the rise forms I've been seeing the fish are keyed in on emergers. I've also been toying with a light olive soft hackle (gray partridge) in sizes 16 and 18 as a point fly and a size 18 or 20 brown BWO emerger for a dropper. Friday was a banner day for me!

Well I headed out to load up the jeep this morning and found wind. 0wt and wind do NOT mix so I canceled. In the process of making some mushroom soup to take over to my moms. I made this soup 2 nights ago for the first time......super easy and a total win. I did add a little bit of chicken to it but to be honest it's probably not needed. www.budgetbytes.com/2017/09/creamy-garlic-mushroom-soup/ Honestly, the soup was excellent, filling, cheap and very very easy.

I saw a few bugs which I thought might have been caddis but to be honest, with my eyesight I wasn't so sure. I tried fishing the surface film but found no love. I didn't have my dry fly box with me. Coolest part of the morning was watching about a dozen turkey vultures at first light, trying to ride the thermals for altitude, with a full moon and the dam behind them it was pretty neat to see. As stated, it was a decent morning of fishing, catching was a bit slow.

I hadn't thought about fishing for the little buggers on top during the spawning season but it has my interest. I started fishing Putah as a kid in the early 70's. Decided to quit fishing the winter spawn years ago and considered this recent fishing trip as a possible last hurrah before I move out of state next year. Michigan and retirement bound.

Well you can troll for salmon and Muskie in Michigan. That's a good trade off. I've been hitting the Sac with heavy rigs for salmon the last couple months. Salmon is my #1fish.

Mchigan's Au Sable is heaven. This year hasn't been great, so I've heard, but it is always lovely.

Good old parachute adams. My most productive dry fly any place. It just works.

I was going to head up this morning but once again, wind was not my friend. I'll shoot for a couple of hours tomorrow morning. My collection of dry flys is rather crappy at best though there are always emergers. :)

 I'm really looking forward to the move.  Kayak fishing the Great Lakes.  Plenty of big and small streams and lakes to fish.  Lots of black flys, horse flys and mosquitos that  bite....hmmm.

I think there are some great steelhead opportunities back there. That's if you don't mind wandering around rivers in the snow.
