Thank you to the gentleman who gave me some tips and a #20 zebra midge!  I landed a nice one!  It's nice that the Putah community is a helping one. I'll pay it forward!  I'll try and add a pic.

I really like how you guys are appearing to treat these special fish... Kepping them wet. Good job and good examples.

Nice fish and congratulations. I caught my first putah rainbow 3 years ago on a tiny black midge pupa pattern that a guide
I ran into on the river gave me, was absurdly small like 22 maybe 24. I had fished putah somewhat regularly when living in pope valley for a year prior, insisting on using larger flies that I caught fish on elsewhere but nothing worked till I downsized considerably. Guides name was Brian I think and had a black beard, if he sees this thank you

Zebra midges never work on Putah. You got lucky. Stop using them.

#20 midge larvae grey and black.  Worked hard for this fish after the bridge and below staircase.

Went out Saturday morning and worked the bridge for a solid hour.  One hook up over this span for a 13-15" fish lost before netting.  Headed downstream and fiahed the lower stair for another hour and manage one decent fish.  Mornings have been drab in my books while the afternoons are the opposite. Sleep in. I'd post a pic but they all post upside down from my phone.  Midge larvae have been the bug for me, 20 or smaller.

A little too warm in the afternoon for this Washington boy.  However, it appears, by the looks of this coming week's temps, we'll be in for some fine evening fishing!

Did my secret midge pay off for you?

Haha I can take the heat, just surprising the residents prefer it.  I'll definitely make it out Tuesday if you're around.  I haven't had anything on the purple #18 you gave me.  The KW went fast though... Hooked and lost it the same day.  Hope to see you out there soon.

I work outside all day...  and I am old!

I have a few more KW's for you, if needed.  Surprised that midge hasn't worked for you!

I'll be out Mon, Tues and Wed..
