Went this morning for about three hours after being off the water for over 4 months. Fished the stretch of water from access 4 along the foot path down to the island, and the first three or four hundred yards of the island. It is possible to still cross the river to the island even at 800 cfs. Only very short sections of fishable water is accessible using old foot paths. The water is very cold and relatively clear.
Most of the silt that was residing along parts of the river bed and shore at the island is gone as well as most of the snags under water. Unfortunately, I see a lot of new blackberry growth along the paths.
For the most part, the flow is still too high and access too difficult for a fun day of fly fishing. I drifted several nymph patterns but didn't catch any fish.
That's the story out there.... I did see a large silt bank at the first crossing of #5 and across the island. I feel that the flood event pushed the silt into different places, or maybe consolidated the silt that seemed to be everywhere before...
