Went out today with my brother. water was down a few inches and clear for the most part. I fished 3 and 5. Hooked two and shook off but a good day I guess had fun. Just trying to improve every time
Fished April 28th when they bumped flows, hooked a slab at 5 made a strong run snapped the 2x got a good look at it before he blasted off. Only fish of the day. Water was very turbid.
Went to the creek yesterday (Wednesday June 1st) and probably should have checked the water levels first but I had a free morning and a strong desire to get on the water. The flows peaked at 600 cfs around 8:00 AM and I found the water high, fast and difficult to fish. The parking areas were empty. I suspect that others saw those flow levels and wisely differed fishing that day.
600 is normal flows during the summer. People don't fish it because it takes a little more work to find the fish since they're not spawning in a foot of water. I don't fish the spawn season and I've caught fish up to 26" during the hottest months.
Fished from 7 to 11:30 mostly at 5 and some at 3. Nothing, not even a bump.
I found the 600CFS flow manageable but limiting. Didn't see any surface activity so pretty much tried to be on the bottom the whole time. I think next time I'll swing some streamers so as to cover more water. It really was overwhelming the amount of water and not having a good sense where the holding water was/is.
It's tuff to take out a phone in wader with flows so fast and alone. If I get a good one I might risk it.and I'm not on here bragging. And I still probably wouldnt post it.I'm not one for posting pics.
