On Saturday, I paddled from the bridge up to the culvert on the back side of the island for some exercise and deflower my kayak. I haven't floated any stretch of Lake Solano in years but never remembered it to be that shallow. The majority of it was 3' or less. I did find one short stretch pushing 4 feet or so and also one hole that was almost 6. The water by the culvert was extremely thin though did hold a few fish, late spawners I suppose.
The rain threatened but never came. I saw a few kingfishers, canada geese, cattle egrets, some lbj's and a ton of buffleheads. I should have taken my bino's but it was a nice way to enjoy part of the afternoon.

The kayak worked very well, it is a Jackson Kraken 13.5. I've only been on a kayak once before and that was an easy 10 years ago, so this really was a maiden voyage. It seemed to track well, even without a rudder, plenty of speed short of tired arms and weak lungs on my part. It was also surprisingly stable. In time it will see the ocean, delta and perhaps Feather/Yuba/Sac.

I have never used a kayak (mostly float tubes or pontoons). I just looked up your's and it appears to be a very solid watercraft. Good luck with it and keep us posted on upcoming adventures!
