With the rainy weather (hopefully) coming soon, I thought I'd post this tip. Before you store away your rod or reel, make sure that it is dry. I have a reel that has its surface pitted because I forgot to wipe it dry before putting it away. I have a Scott rod that used to have red guides that now has pink guides because it was stored away wet. Both the reel and rod are functionally okay, but they cosmetically they don't look the same. If you store a rod or reel wet for a few days or even weeks, you probably won't notice any damage. However, if (like I did) you store them away for months, then the damage may occur.
