Wild Trout Designation fun and family celebration at Canyon Creek Resort April 19

A reminder that the Wild Trout Celebration is coming up this Sunday at Canyon Creek Resort on April 19, 10-6 PM. This is a family oriented fun and educational celebration of the volunteerism of PCT along with many others groups and clubs who assisted DFW's Heritage and Wild Trout Program team over the past 6 years in collecting the data necessary to make designation a reality.

 
Please join us for educational games for the kids presented by HWTP staff and presentations for the adults on the designation process, a spawning trout video, and a chance to search for radio tags with the telemetry equipment used in the HTWP's latest fish movement study. Mikey Weir and our own Chris Yama (aka Otter) will discuss gear and techniques.  NCCIFFF is providing fly tying demonstrations, and, after lunch, fly fishers can fish the resort property. BBQ food and drink is provided at a nominal cost.

Here is the schedule for Sunday. In addition the Resort wanted everyone to know that the picnic area, bocce ball and horseshoe pits will be available. Note the late afternoon reception with complimentary wine and beer! Please excuse to bad formatting.

Section 1 - Presentations (Lodge)

Section 2 - Lunch and Learning (Lodge and Grounds)

12:00-2:00 PM

·         $5 Hamburger/Hotdogs/Chips & Drink

·         CDFW staff: kids learning module - explanations of trout life cycle, kinds of trout, fish foods, drawing and coloring

·         NCCFFF demonstrations of fly tying techniques

·         Q & A opportunities with PCT members, TU staff and CDFW staff

·         “Find the Tag” search with telemetry equipment

Section 3 - Fishing, more food, free drinks

12:00-6:00 PM

·         Fish the private resort reach and other sections of the Putah Creek

·         Tour the Resort property and get pro tips

·         Enjoy the kid’s play area and the pool, and explore the natural surroundings

·         3:00 – 6:00 PM Gourmet artisan pizza available on the Creekside patio $12-$15. Enjoy on the patio or take to go!

 

·         4:30-6:00 PM Complimentary Beer & Wine reception, on the Creekside patio
