I'm looking for a 10' 4wt medium action rod. It seems like manufacturers are making mostly fast action nowadays. Redington used to have the RS4 which fit the bill perfectly but don't make it any longer. Ebay has some but not in 10'. What's out there?
My 10' 4wt is a Cabella's CZN rod. I really like it. it is more of a Med-fast action. I've heard that the Grey's Streamflex XF2 is a nice medium action rod. Many Euro nymphers have been positive especial for long leader styles.

I have the 11 ft 4 wt czn rod from Cabelas and I really like it too. I saw a Greys 10ft 4 wt for about $300 at Fly Fishing Specialties in Citrus Hts but I would buy the Cabelas for $159, med fast action but with a strong butt, caught steelhead on the Trinity over 24 inches maybe about 5-6 lbs. the tip is soft but the butt is strong enough to handle the bigger fish so it is a super versatile rod like a progressive taper. Alnother option is the switch rods that Cabelas has I also have a 11 ft 6 wt that is similar but just a little faster if you want more speed. I like that one too and the longer cork allows you to hold the rod at the balance point. It is hard to buy a rod without casting it but I did and I like them both and for under $200 a pretty good deal for a 10-11 ft rod in a light weight, maybe perfect for Putah
The question is how much are you willing to spend.. There are good rods in low budget price range from Cabela's, however I agree with Wormfree, I think the Hardy Zenith is a phenomenal. There are great rods by G Loomis, and Sage. The new Helios 2 is a good rod also, But it all depends on your budget. Hope this helps.
Its a bit late to join the party, but i have a 6wt switch rod (for hunting chrome) but ive been looking into a few 4wt switch rods for trout. They are much more of a medium action rod in my opinion. They also roll cast like a dream. Great for waters with no backcast room, but the overhead height becomes an issue, especially with a place like putah. Anyways the 4wt switch rods are usally in the 10-10'6 range. I have a buddy up north that uses one exclusivly for trout, he has a 10 ft and uses it with a skagit head (yes a spey style) for indicator nymphing. He can roll cast that setup like a sob and he tends to really slam em on that setup.
Idk how it would overhead cast tho.
