After doing a bit of bass fishing at Berreyessa last weekend I stopped in a few spots to look at the creek conditions And i am bummed that i didnt have my fly rod with me! I know the better time to fish putah is in the fall but since that is right around the corner I figure Id better start getting out there now to get back in the swing of things... I will be making my a trip up there on Thursday 8/20 if anyone would like to join in. ( Fishing by myself is fun but I find the more the merrier)

I'll also be available weekends coming up if anyone needs someone to fish the creek with.

And as always if any one has advice to offer about what/where and when to fish my ears are always open!

Also anyone have any thoughts on clearing trails? Was thinking of bringing some hedge clippers with me and clearing the blackberry overhang back a notch or two. Is there a general day that people volunteer and help clear out the trails?

the overgrown trails are hard on waders, but they keep the bait dunkers out of some of the best spots. I'd join a blackberry planting detail if anyone wants to organize one.

I don't think that would stop them. Years ago there used to be trees and brush along my favorite hole. One year it was very, very good with many days of 20 or more trout. The next year someone went in with a chain saw and pruners and cut out all the overhanging trees and brush. This stretch has never been the same since.
