I still need to contact the Napa adult ed . But I want to put on a intro to fly fishing here in Napa . So does anyone have any advice on content . IE this course will cover 1. Gear , 2. dry fly presentation 3.Nimphing . Reading Water ways Where do fish like to hang out . This is just an intro class so you will need to decide weather fly fishing is for you before you spend a million dollars on gear and then never fish again. more comments are welcome
Sounds good. I'd add a little section on fly selection: differences between dries, nymphs, midges, and streamers; and when to use what? I'd also add a section on how to use a dropper off a dry fly pattern or with a nymph and nymph.
I am not sure when to use what ? Remember I only have 5 yrs FF back ground @ dont like to read much . I just want to teach the basics . Futhermore I have never done Powerpoint nor do I own a laptop . Believe me , I see that I could be in over my head but no one else is offering any thing even close to a FF class and I think people want a chance to learn even if its just the basics . Anyway There is so much to learn you could spend a lifetime FF and still not know it all , Thats why I calling it "Intro To Fly Fishing " Any one want to help me put something together ? I have an Outline requested by the school and the Bio they also requested
Not sure if you did this or are still planning it, but I think the most important thing to teach is casting. I know a couple people who quit fly fishing because they couldn't make a 10 foot cast to rising fish.
