I went up to the Stanislaus River today to take a couple of guys out who have never fly fished before. The river is SUPER HIGH! It is flowing clear, though. In the past this river has been one of the first to clear out and become fishable. We did manage to find a side channel that was wadable/fishable. I don't know if any fish were actually in this part of the river, though. This spot doesn't usually have any water in it. We didn't see any signs of fish. A nice BWO hatch started at about 11 AM with the rains. The hatch continued until we left at about 4 PM. It was a good spot to teach them how to cast, manage line, and detect a strike, but hopefully next time we'll be able to find some fish.
