Ive been watchin stream flows online, it looks like it wont be too long until it is fishable? needs to drop about 2000fps, but it is droping about 700-800 a day for the past couple days. Anyone been out lately to see how it looks?
I drove up Saturday and it was still flowing in the trees. I had my 2 kids with me so never actually made it to the bank but clarity though way off certanly seemed fishable to me.
I drive over Putah at I-80 every day and it's still way high there as well and a lot browner.
If you're feeling adventurous try a San Juan Worm upstream from where cold creek comes in at the upper bridge.

I had the opportunity to talk to the good folks who control the flows from Monticello dam and t hey told me that the lake level has been dropping quite fast,a week ago it was about 3 feet over the glory hole and is now only about a foot.If we had no more rain the glory hole will stop running over in about another week or so...but as I am typing this its starting to rain. With every inch of rain the area gets the lake rises about 1 foot.Another note when the glory hole finally quits overflowing Solano Irrigation will continue to release about 800 or 900 cfs from the base of the dam untill the level is about 2 ft below the glory hole crest, how long will that take I havent a clue.
Thanks for the update, i guess all we got to do is wait for a while. It should be fishable after it dips below 1500, at least without fishing in trees, right? I think if it is looking decent this weekend, I will give it a try, but who knows? Hopefully the rain is past
I've noticed alot of posts talking about fishing Putah at or near 1000cfs,I typically do not fish the creek untill it's at least 600 or less.It just makes for a long and not a very productive day when the flows are really high, but some of you folks are just plain hardcore, gotta love it!!!Keep the posts coming and I'll be looking for other water for the next few weeks.
I heard guides were taking clients to the Smith right after the storms, some from 100's of miles away just to get some work. You guys sure have a tough life, good luck with the biz.
