Rgloft and I hit the creek today. Slow day. Talked to some old timers that had had a decent morning around access three, mostly on mayflies. I hooked one good one that came off real fast and landed a little six inch parr. 0 for Rich.
Cool thing though, had a little isoperla stone land on my arm. Probably size 14. Beautiful little bug, and I'm not used to seeing many stones up there. Also the usual clouds of tiny midges and smallish mayflies.
Ran into Otter and saw Jordan guiding, you guys have better days than us?
The creek is full of young of the year!!! The fish grow fast on the creek! Talked to a guy who was fishing a mosquito dry catching fish. Talked to a guy who landed a 23" inch fish in the super hole. Found a square nosed fish today. Probably from the second spawn. Overall the fish are much thinner than in years past. My guess is that the high flows of march really screwed up the feeding patterns. There are quite a few yellow stones around access 3. Flies I have been using are black midges and big soft hackles in yellow to tan. The big mayflies are fairly abundant in some places....
one of those fish was a decent 12 inch rainbow that put up a fight! she was peeling line and pulling on that drag after i got her on the reel...it was awesome!!!

I had a beautiful day at the creek today. A couple of nice fish in the net. Around 1 pm a police helicopter flew low and slow up the creek and hovered over the dam for a while before leaving. I didn't give it much thought until I got back to the car and turned on the radio.
I have a few friends running Boston today...one brought his kids, I ran Boston myself a few years ago. Terrible news. Be thankful for every day.
Glad to hear somebody got into the fish today... I fished below the bridge today and got nada, went to the boulder garden, nada, went to 4, but there was a car there for about 3-4 hours, I assumed he/she got into some fish. All my luck as of late has been in the lower portion of the creek...
Saw the Helicopter as well, Boston is my favorite city, haven't been there in a few years but have been wanting to go back.
Went 0 for 5 on several big ones today. Every fish I hooked was 15" + and went aerial and/or made screaming runs only to shake the hook. All thanks to Otter's little black midge emerger - thanks Chris! They were hitting it so hard by the fourth fish they had stripped almost all the thread off the hook. Rgloft did 2 to the net. All our fish were from the top of the creek...
I've had that happen to me numerous times. I was thinking that they were going for it and just missing it cause there's no way that I have that kinda luck to hook them in the same spot.
Please remember to complete a paper survey form at the boxes or here online each time you fish. Very few reports are coming in and I know a lot of fishing is going on. If we want a Wild Trout designation step up and provide the data DFW needs. It takes less than a minute.
