I was up there last week and me and a buddy got into some nice sized fish (All above 20" and well below access 3), managed to land 4 between us but hooked into 8 total. I'm guessing they are lingering around in the lower parts while making their way back to the frog water at Lake Solano?

One other thing I've noticed is that 3x tippet seemed to be fine with the cloudy water.  This is the second time I've used 3x and hooked/landed fish which makes it nice since the fish we were hooking were bigger than what my average is and we could bring them in quickly.

Nice fish Kaiteo.  Before this March, that would top anything in size I've landed at Putah since I started fishing there again two years ago.

Went out Saturday. Water was tinted in most places. I didn't see any bug activity until late in the day. I threw everything I had andonly managed one. I saw a few other guys who had zero luck. I watched a guy above me battle a nice fish. Seemed he needed help so I ran down a rocky trail with my net only to see him in disappointment. Sucks when a good fish breaks off just as your about to land it. Next time bud.

putah march 9.JPGThanks for the offer Ross. I'm a newbie and don't quite have the landing thing down yet. Lost two at the net on Saturday. The one you saw me loose was the largest by far. I took three swipes with my net (coming up only with a net full of muddy water) before it finally broke off.

The image I am trying to attach was my not so bad consolation.

thanks again for your offer. I could've us

Yeah it was tough Saturday. You still did much better then me. Last weekend they were pretty active. Must be from the water being tinted. Makes things a little harder for them to see. Gotta tie more flies this week.

The water last Wednesday after the brief "storm" not only had tint but there was a lot of debris. I was thinking that the bite was off due the fish being tired of eating cr@p floating along.

I was also out there Saturday, same place as where I met Rossflyguy last time. Same results as last time too: Lost a few flies and connected with one fish that got away after a few seconds.

Water levels are starting to get a little high for my liking. Might be time to start moving further downstream.
