Fished the creek yesterday with my 11 year old son Nicholas and my infamous web designer Kieth, and was pleasantly surprised by the water clarity,at least up near the resort and down stream about 1/2 mi.We caught fish, not huge numbers but enough to keep us enthused.Sizes ranging from 12" to 15"average and Nick landing the big fish of the day about 18" which was a very spunky rainbow that made numerous hard runs, but the expert net manipulation of his father/guide managed to bring the slimey fella in.This I believe is what earned me a nice tip from my son...hey I only charge him a little over half of what I charge my other clients!! Ha Ha.I also noticed alot of anglers standing on top of the spawners dragging flies across the tops of thier backs(shame shame shame).Alot of other anglers on the water with just about every slot taken probably because about 75% of the creek was chocolate milk,so everybody was in the fishable water like us.I'm sure the creek is fishable right now as I noticed cold canyon creek which flows in just above the upper bridge near the resort was clear yesterday, but with this big series of storms on the horizon things are about to change for at least 4 or 5 days (my guess) it all depends on the amount of rain. The glory hole is far from going over and the lake is currently clear so our only source of dirty water to influence the Putahs clarity is Cold canyon or wildhorse canyon, same thing.Keep your eyes on the cfs flow rate on this web page and that will reflect any increase.Over and out.

The gauging station is just about 50 feet above the top of #1  You will see a silver box.  This is one of my favorite areas to catch large fish during the summer.  I think the large fish you see in the spawning area at the top of #1 hang out in the deep slower water during the summer.  The water was low and fairly clear today.  I landed four large fish from 18-21" from 4-5 tonight.  I was surprised at the clarity.
