Well I finally went out and picked up a Tenkara rod. I figured it would be fun to go out and fish the way some of my ancestors used to fish... It is pretty fun going backwards!! It is a combination of high sticking, dry flying, deep water fishing and emerger fishing all at once??? Anyways it is hard to explain, but definitely fun!!
Anyone who knows the trout on Putah can tell this is no Putah trout. Too many spots. I was fishing in the fishbowl below a waterfall! Heading to the Yuba tomorrow and will be swinging a soft hackle skwala....
No pix, but yes there was a huge landslide right at the bottom of the float tube hole.. Car sized boulders right on the new gravel put in last year.. It must also be blocking the canal on that side.
The landslide is pretty cool, Its defenitly covering the canal. Put some nice large boulders in the river, I think that spot will be better then before.
Not sure what the fishbowl is. Perhaps you meant the float tube hole? If so, it's the large piece of frog water that you see as you walk along the canal towards the dam.
i barrowed a friends Tenkara yesterday and was on the Yuba and got a pretyy good fish swinging and the whole Butt section blew up! and had to chase the upper sections of the rod down river a bit!
Guess i'll take it to the pleasanton show in a couple of weeks and see if they'll warrenty it! Big bummer.
