I was on the creek after work today and ran into our resident volunteer entomologist (bug scientist). The good news is that DFG was patrolling the creek looking for violations. Specifically looking for the clowns hand fishing!! I have seen the local DFG more this year than in many many years!
It should also be known that the local water agency is actively monitoring the redds to make sure that they are not dewatered!!
Happy New Years to all the flyfishers and especially all the volunteers that have been helping out this winter!! It has been great that so many people are supporting the creek!
I have been working on videotaping the spawners this year. Here is a sample of the many fish that so many people are working to protect.
I have an extendable pole (I believe up to 28 feet) with an eye hook on the end. You can borrow it if you think it might help in placing a camera. It should have no problem supporting a go-pro or similar.

Nice underwater footage Otter! I like how you threw some 'Creedence Clearwater in the video. Its good that DFG is actively out and on the creek! That puts my mind at ease because I haven't been able to get out there for awhile and do my patrol for redd rapists this year due to a suspension of my drivers license. Glad to know the DFG is doing good work and so many other people doing the same.
Thanks nic and clay! The authorities are already looking for me for some other stuff, that is why I have so many aliases!! I was told yesterday SCWA needed to fix a valve or something yesterday and so they lowered the flows. They were spotting the redds as they lowered the flows. As I was told the flows would go back up today. They are now back at 90.
Great video, and I love the Creedence! The song "Green River" is about Putah Creek too. Was that intentional Otter? In an interview, Fogerty talks about Putah Creek (source here).
