American River in Sacto

I haven't fished Putah lately, as the fish seem to be in full spawn mode.  I have spent a few hours at Goethe Park after cruising the moto track at Hangtown.  So far I have only had one fish straighten my hook on a fox poopah.  Does anyone have any tips for steelhead on the american through Sacramento?  In January I think the upper section opens up.  I have heard that fishing can be crowded and tempers out of control in that area.  What is the best setup? Indicator or not, floating line or sinking, flies?

I think the best way to fish the American is in a drift boat, but I don't have one.  I have never seen anyone in a float tube.  The flows are around 2,000 CFS, but you can wade Goethe fairly easily with a staff.  Watch other fishermen to see where to cross, cast, etc

What makes a drift boat a drift boat?  I'm serious, sounds like something I would like to have but have no idea what I would be looking for.

Drift Boats

Nevermind I figured it out I did a internet search.  They are an interesting watercraft for sure.

It's funny every picture I saw of people using them, they were not actually in the boat, it was anchored and they were wading?

MERRY CHRISTMAS ALL!!!!!!!!!!!
