First trip to Lake Davis and had a ton of fun! Mitch from PCT showed a group of people from his fly club how to fish the lake. I just tagged along to see what all the hype was about. Mitch is a fishing machine! He landed 29 fish in one day as compared to me and others that were happy to land four of these monsters! If you have seen Mitch on the Yuba you know what I am talking about.... Anyways the lake is pretty fun! Fish will rip out line like a steelhead. I think most are Eagle lake strain. Hot flies were orange buggers, hare's ears and soft hackles. Get out there before the snow sets in!

Sorry missed that post until today. We were catching fish between Camp 5 and Jenkins. For lakes I have been fishing an intermediate camo. Mitch who was catching all the fish carries four rods on his crazy ass raft/pontoon boat. He has a fish finder and a depth finder. He switches from low floating to about a 150 grain line depending on what he sees on the fish finder. The fish were hitting hares ears and orange buggers! Crawdads think crawdads! The local guide John B fishes size 14 blood midges in the morning. All lakes have a good callibaetis hatch around 10-1 depending on the temps. My favorite fly is a hares ear soft hackle size 14. Other good flies are a wiggle tail in orange black or green. By the way Davis is not as good as a little lake that is closer....
Thanks Otter, just got back from Davis/Feather River. Davis was a bit disappointing, skunked one day, two the next and two today. The sizes were 18-19" not the fight I thought either. The Feather on the other hand, was crazy good! All on a dry
