It's been three weeks since I have been out to Putah, but managed a couple of hours this morning. I hooked one nice one on a black zebra and a smaller one on a red micro egg, but both came unbuttoned. I kept working the same area and landed a beautiful 21 inch rainbow, only the second fish over 20 inches I have caught on Putah in my 15 months there. On top of that, it was a perfect day weatherwise and nobody else was around. Unfortunately I had to go to work by 10:30 so had to cut the trip short.
I was out the day before and also did well. The rainbow in hand was a stunning, deep red 20'' beauty. I missed two others of about the same size that put up struggles that challenged my knot tying. They won. But by a little before noon the bite wound down. Seems mornings are better these days, at least for me. Is that the case with others?
