Spawn, Over?

Most the fish I have been seeing lately are bright silver or a little on the dark side.  I landed a fish today that was bright red, and a little beat up.  Not post spawn colored but full on sokeye red.  (Pulled the fish out of a deep run at least 4')

I have not seen fish on Putah spawn this late in the year but there are no absolutes in fly fishing.  Has anyone seen any fish still spawning?

I have seen fish spawning this late in the lower creek. There are several people that have said there are two spawns on the creek... My guess is the big fish spawn early and the remnant planters spawn from feb to apriil like normal rainbows. I have caught fish from 4" to adults in the past few weeks. Fish grow fast in the creek... Research is ongoing.

Otter I think you are right. It definitely looked like a zombie. His fins were messed up and his head was huge, very dis proportioned to his body. That would make one old hold over.

4 years old isn't old for a rainbow (planted in '08). But I guess "it ain't the years, its the miles"

Wow that's an old holdover, It's been a few years since I've caught a planter. Berryessie I'm curious to know about how big was the planter?
Mid April is prime spawning time on the creek, for the suckers that come up from lake solano.

It was about 18" but the size of his head was huge. The size head you see on a 22"+. I am waiting to get a picture back of it and I will pm it to you Matt.
