I'm gonna be in Redding this weekend at a soccer tourney.  Anyone have any ideas on where to walk and wade?

Stop by the fly shop, they used to and probably still do have free maps for areas of the river to wade. A lot of it is going to depend on flows and the available time you have to fish. Posse grounds ie sundial bridge area and by the other two briges in town are areas I've waded in the past.

Definitely stop there for a map (and hot flies). There are at least a half dozen excellent areas including turtle bay, girvan road (sewer ponds), cascade park, anderson park, balls ferry, jellys ferry. The posse ground gets heavy traffic, lower areas less.  Wade carefully, use  a staff. Google earth will show you a lot of the good water, trails, etc.

Check out the area by the islands. It's a very tough place to wade.

Wading up there is much better in the Fall, like October. Depending on how high it's flowing now there may not be much available to wade.

Thanks for all the info guys.  I've never fished there and it is probably best to drift, but I'm not going all the way up there and not give it a shot.

Flows at 4000 which is wadable most spots; take a wading staff. Rich is right, flows in November to January are often down to 2000-3000, which are easier
