We had the pleasure of hosting Luke Nowlin this weekend, A young man riding his horse from N Carolina to Calif. He was in Napa today headed to Sonoma and then to Ft Bragg where he will end his journey.
What would it be like to travel in America today as the early pioneers did? What kind of people would one encounter without the convenience, protection and isolation of todays motor vehicle? IN SEARCH OF AMERICA is the culmination of a long held dream of Eagle Scout, lifelong patriot and 2011 Tulsa Univ graduate Luke Nowlin. After careful thought and planning, Luke engineered a plan to cross America from east to west in search of the answer to these questions.
With no desire other than to meet, commune with and work alongside the salt-of-the-earth people that comprise our nation, Luke set out from the beaches of Emerald Isle, N carolina, and has now almost completed his journey with no other resources other than those that can be carried on his mount. Finding just what he expected, that Americans still care enough to open their homes and hearts to each other, Luke is discovering what makes America great: her people.

That is an adventure! How did he get to Benicia? Can he cross bridges with a little help? It's great to see people can volunteer to help out people chasing a dream..
We met Luke through our friends in Clovis. he was at the Rush Ranch in Suisun on Friday, rode to Napa on Sunday where his horse Geno was boarded for the night. Saturday I took Luke prospecting for gold. The Napa Registar was interviewing him this morning , probably in the paper tomorrow.
