Givin the current conditions of most trout rivers and streams I've been able to keep my sanity by playing around with some bluegill. There a great flyrod gamefish, there not always easy they can be finicky as a spring creek trout, they fight hard, are plentifull, And I have a pond full of them practically in my bakyard. The bass have been a bit tougher to get but I've managed a few. Been using the old school type panfish poppers mostly, some damslefly dry's, and stimulators.
More than one way to teach the kids fly fishing. PCT is considering holding fishouts at Lake Solano in their little ponds for kids in the park day use area, if there is interest from the forum members and others.
