Had a blast with my father fishing the Lower Sac with Ryan Johnston. After teaching the old dog the new trick, we boated 26 nice rainbows which topped out at 19.5". We drifted the middle section. It was cold but dry. Most of the fish were taking orange egg patterns! Weird time of year for that but the results....

Way to go Dr. Dan!!! It is always a fun time fishing with Ryan! African Angler and I hit the river with Ryan yesterday. We saw the biggest caddis hatch of the year... Needless to say the fishing was pretty darn good!!
The Lower Sac is fishing great right now. You can effectively fish it from a boat or walk and wade. Did 2 days monday and tuesday without my boat, and did very very well. All fish landed between me and a buddy were all over 18"s, and all on the same type of fly. Each day we hooked about 15 fish between the 2 of us, and all from local access points along the river which is awesome. Only other river that I know you can do that on is the Yuba. Not to many bugs on monday, but tuesday was a different story. Those caddis were everywhere, including my mouth a few times.

Fishing isnt about catching fish, its not about who caught the most, or who caught the biggest, its about the experience that you have on the water, and the life long bonds you make with others on the journey to becoming a better person inside.
Thanks for all of the kind words guys. It is my pleasure to be able to take you guys out. It is even better when the bugs and fish cooperate. I gotta tell you nothing better than fishing with Chris and Alastair. Chris drinking dirty water aka Bud Light and Alastair wishing he hadn't forgot his flask in the truck. Good times. Hope you are all well and we I will be seeing some of you in the next couple of months.
