Well as everyone should know the steelies rule.  They are a fish of a thousand casts.  Number two around here are the Yuba Trout.  They rip line like a steelie.  Then there is the shad.  If you haven't been shad fishing you are missing out....

Channel cat-hands down over the bullhead of equal size (and they will take a fly on occasion).

I'm with otter, steelies and Yuba trout, but I will also have to throw in big striperzzzzzzzzz.... Fight really well and they don't just "sip bugs" off the top, they straight blow it up.

I think I remember this topic from last year. Then I was a rainbow fan, but now I'd rather catch a brown. Although I think a rainbow fights harder, I just love those little red dots. I'm at the point where I don't care much about the fight... I like the beauty of the fish. I just get more excited when I see a brown come out of the water.

I got one... Salmon v.s. Steelhead.

Brown v Rainbow....Brown hands down.  I don't catch enough of them compared to the number of Rainbows.

Somebody else mentioned Steelhead already.

Steelhead v Salmon....Steelhead hands down.  My favorite way of comparing the two is a Funny car versus a Tank.  I don't target Salmon and break them off on purpose when I hook them.

ps: it used to be less than a 1,000 casts on the Madbiggrin

Same here. I'd rather catch a half pounder than a 15 or 20lb salmon.

Rainbows for me...There a all around faster, stronger, harder fighting fish then the brown trout usually. As for steelhead Vs. salmon, It would have to be atlantic salmon Vs. steelhead. And in that case I'm going for the atlantic salmon even though I have not fished them before and I'm sure most of us haven't, But they are considered the ultimate flyrod gamefish to many.
