finally got the vice , Thanks otter . so I have been looking at tools ie bobin tools and there is about 8 or 9 too chose from what gives why so many and which one do I get and the prices crazy the one I like over thirty dollars thats crazy and then theres scizors I hear that two pair is good , one for wire and one for feathers and thread right ? any ways I will be taking a class at some point when bob from sweenys get back ,,,,, any one got any extra tools ie bobin or scizors or what ever hat they want to donate or sell cheap let me know at least to get me started thanks rgloft but mostly some advice on bobin holders and or scizzors ,,, I want to start tying caddis pupah ie foxs and the zibra midge thanks again otter
Bobbin - Get something ceramic tipped. It will last you awhile. As you get into tying, buy a few extras so you can have your favorite threads spooled.
Scissors - One is fine, but two is better for the reason that you listed. Over time, you will get used to keeping a set of scissors in one hand, so alternating scissors will be a pain. Wire can be spun or twisted to break off. I can't remember the last time that I used a set of scissors to cut lead or copper wire. Have the guys at Sweeney's teach you how to do that. You can buy a decent pair for under $20. I recommend the Hendrix brand. They are basically Dr. Slick's, but they cost less.
