I have been working way too hard lately, so I took 3 fly fishing customers out on a 2 boat drift with Ryan Johnston on the Lower Sac last Thursday. We went Posse Grounds to the RV Park. There are small numbers of salmon in the system right now. Only a couple were in the redds and none seemed to be actively egg laying. It was a great weather, and fishing day. Almost all fish caught were large, healthy rainbows. Each of us caught several 15"-19" healthy, healthy fish. The Lower Sac and Yuba produce some great fish. It's interesting to see the silvery chrome color of Yuba fish versus the dark colored version of the Lower Sac fish.
Needless to say, being from San Diego, Ryan is a Padre fan and of course I'm a big Giant's fan. Sadly for Ryan, the Giant's had just defeated his loved Padres over the weekend for the NL West title. In honor of this feat, I wore my Tim Lincecum jersey while on the drift all day. Here are a couple of fish pics from the day. Another great day of drifting and fishing. I can't say enough about how hard these guys work and how much fun each day is.
Nice fish Bob. Been working a little too hard myself lately. Thanks for the pics. Bob were you at that incredible 14 strikeout, 33 swing through strike complete game shutout the other night?? One of the best outings I have ever seen. To see it live was something else. Unfortunately the next night didn't go our way but I am still reeling from that performance

those are some beautiful fish. hearing how far people come to fish the lower sac makes me feel blessed that i live in redding. i try and get out and fish it at least once a week. lately i have been fishing it from 5:30pm till dark to get the dry fly action. went out a couple weeks ago and got four to hand between 7 and 7:30. the smallest was 16 inches and the biggest was 19 inches which is my personal best.
