I just want to take a moment and thank everyone who came out to the fundraiser. I realize Healdsburg is not the closest place for some of you. I had a good time chatting with you all, meeting some new friends, razzing the old ones. It was a blast and I cannot wait to make it bigger and better for next year. Thanks to all the donors, we had some amazing auction items. I am just trying to figure out if I can shake the cob webs out enough to give this new float tube a spin this afternoon.
I second this. A great tme for all who were there. Cole, Chris and Steve put a ton of time into this event and it showed. Good food and wine was only outdone by the silent auction prizes and comaraderie to be had at this event. Many good chuckles during the day. Thanks to all who made the time and participated in the event.
I had a couple free hours so I made a quick run to the creek this morning to walk the river and replace any missing signs. About a half dozen signs had been torn down and were replaced. Not one person was fishing the creek today, not one???? It appears that an area of continued poaching is the gauge station right above Accress 1. There were packets of hooks and worm tubs on the bank. The sign here was torn down for the third time. This time I screwed it into the tree with 8 screws. They'll have to really work when they tear it down next time.
Additional thanks to Cole and the rest of the Davis family and Alexis, Bono and Kristine, Annie, Brian, event co-chair Ed (a master salesman!), and the rest of the board (Gary, Bob, Jerry, Chris, Cliff), and a special thanks to Alastair who drove back from the East Walker just to help set up on Friday afternoon. Alastair received recognition for his volunteerism for several groups by being named our group's Volunteer of the Year. Thank you, Alastair, for so freely sharing your time, talent, and great wines.
Early Rumor: next years top raffle item will be a hand built wood pram by Master Carver James Haan, aka Black Cloud.
Thanks to all that made the trip to the wine country and contributions to our event.
Myself and my wife had a great time as well,I'm still bummed that I didnt win one of those fly tying benches crafted by James. So what did I do yesterday? I built my own, the wife said it looks kinda hokey and nowhere near as nice as what Black Cloud produced, but hey it works! A huge thanks to everyone involved in making this a huge success, this event was really well put together. I still cant believe that about 3 or 4 years ago this group was just a glimmer in the eye of a handfull of people and seeing what it has turned into and more importantly what it has already accomplished never ceases to amaze me!!! On our way home from the event Kristine (my wife) and I were commenting on what a really great bunch of folks that are invoved either directly or indirectly with this group. Looking forward to next year already! Bono
