I will attribute the following news to the efforts of Putah Creek Trout and all of you anglers who have been calling CALTip to report regulations violations on Putah Creek. I know I have spoken with several of you who have stayed on course with this.
Our local Game Warden who patrols Putah Creek, Lance, has phoned us and let us know that he plans to step up enforcement activityon Putah Creek!!!!! Thank You! Rather than calling CALTip, Lance prefers that you call him directly on his cell phone to report regulations violations, especially poaching. His cell phone number is 916-217-9756. If he is unable to answer your call, leave a message. He will return your call. Leave a message with as much information as possible . . . what violation, where on the creek, car license number, vehicle description, etc.)
I would suggest that when someone runs into anglers who are bait fishing, rather than just "running people off the creek" that you take the time to inform them on what they can do to fish within the new regulations. They can switch to a barbless lure and continue fishing ( o take). If they have no lures, a short drive down to Pardehsa Store ( or whatever it's called now) and they can purchase a couple of lures, pinch the barbs and be back fishing in a half hour. Just be sure to release any fish caught.
Good call Bob, thank you. I was there on Monday and the reg sign at cold creek was ripped off. Luckily the didn't throw it in the river. Someone had placed it on top of the angler survey box. Didn't have any tools. Looked like a 5/8 hex head? Anyways someone needs to fix that. Maybe I should carry a couple wrenches with me just for that.
