I usually do the o'dark thirty drift during the spring and summer for Stripers on the Lower American a few times each year. My goal is to get a Striper on the top this year.

There is an innovative fly tier based out of Sacramento County named Charlie Bisharat. He is an Umpqua signature tier.  He has a subsurface fly called Charlie's Airhead.  It is one of my favorite Striper flies.  I use it with an intermediate sink line.

He has a topwater fly coming out called Charlie's Pole Dancer.  It will be available in limited distribution this spring.  Think of it as the Zara Spook of fly fishing.  I cannot find a picture of it through the internet although you can find a picture of it in Costello and Sherman's book, Fly Fishing the California Delta.  It will be the hot fly this year.  From what I have been told, shops may be charging $15 to $20 for it.
