I was just rolling through the Fishing regulations looking at the regs for the yuba and noticed regs for the section below Daguerre Point Dam. It looks like this is artificial only section. Has anybody fished this section before and is it worth the trip? How is the access?

I fish below diguere religously. Fishing can be good at times, i prefer to fish that section in the late spring, the summer months, and the fall. Typically this time of year the fishing is tuff. Unlike the upper river there are hardly any skwalas or march browns to speak of, so you don't get the same dry fly fishing as you do up top this time of year. Below diguere used to have a ton of bugs before the highwater some years back, but now it seems like the only bugs that really hang around down low are caddis and rock worms.
The real issue below diguere is access. The only public access is at hallwood boulevard, the rest is private. If you don't mind walking then you can go as you please, but if you have ever walked a mile on those yuba rocks you might think twice about packing it way back in. If your at hallwood boulevard, there are a number of good runs up or down river.
I think a lot of people dont fish around hallwood because it is super hit or miss, even more so than up river, however, if you happen to be there and find a pod of fish, it can be fun.

I access it at the gun club (private), jet boat (when the flows are above 1100 in Marysville), or at Hallwood. Some of my bigger Yuba fish were caught in the lower section.
If you like fishing for American Shad, the Lower Yuba can be more productive than the Lower American as long as the fish are able to swim over Shanghai Falls on the Feather.
there is also access on the other side of the river opposite of hallwood. as far as walking i can contast to that. me and a buddy went from hallwood all the way up to the weir, after fishing for say 4 hours with a big 0 we floated all the way back down, it was 95 that day. and the float was very nice. i did end up with a nice 20"er that day, but it was an early bird like us. once the sun came out and on the water all activity parished.
my best times on the lower section has been from fall to spring.
