Now that the regulations change has passed, some of the real follow-up work that is necessary begins. This is an opportunity to pitch in and participate in PCT.
I am working from several angles on how to best convey the information of our new fishing regulations change at Putah Creek. One idea is to have a group of people who could literally walk the creek for a day or two during April 2010, when the new regulations take effect. Ideally there would be 6-8 people, working in pairs who could spend half a day fishing, and half a day walking a section of the creek getting the word out.
The purpose would be informational in nature only, getting the word out to all anglers on the creek about the regulations change in a non confrontational and friendly manner. We would not be there attempting to enforce regulations, that's what CAL-Tip is all about. This is stricly for informational purposes. Any violators will be reported.
Who would be interested in participating in this event? Your assisstance is appreciated.
as long as i dont have to work that day. meaning i dont get a job between now and then I would love to help you guys out.

Fishing isnt about catching fish, its not about who caught the most, or who caught the biggest, its about the experience that you have on the water, and the life long bonds you make with others on the journey to becoming a better person inside.
I think that this is a good idea. The creek looked nice today, hooked up with a few, however there were a ton of people out there. Some guy came down right where we were fishing and proceeded to cross the river... right over redds. We were prompt to let him know not to go any farther and cross a little further upstream. He said that he knew what to look for, but obviously not that well.
I would also be happy to help out. I work on the weekends, I'm usialy off on Wednesday every week so just let me know if I can help out. Also, will we be walking the banks of lake solano too? Because that is where there will probily be alot of hardware bait chuckers..
As an added idea, I think that when this actually happens, we should have a bunch of PCT cards to hand out. Just so that the people understand that we are part of an organization that cares about the restoration of Putah Creek and not some rogue fly fishers out there to harass the fishermen.
Jon-we are planning just that. business cards with the regs printed on them, along with CAl-Tip and illegal activity recording instructions on the back side. We might also put reporting forms in the survey boxes-Bob's got a number of ideas for helping DFG's reg enforcement actions. Remember that our primary role will be education first.
