St Croix and Why?

so sent my st croix imperial back to the shop to get fixed, a guy just called me asking if i want to upgrade. told him i am very happy with the medium action of the imperial. go figure he comes back as says that imperial rods are no longer medium action rods, they are now fast action rods. and that if u want a rod that is the same action rod of your imperial they you will want to upgrade to the avid which is 80 bucks. i have a feeling they did that to the imperial is because so many people love that medium action of the imperial and everyone is sending that one in to get fixed and no one wants to upgrade. well now if u still want a medium action rod u have to spend 80 bucks to get the avid. go figure. man i loved how i could use 6x tippet on that rod and have no worries breaking off on a fish. kinda disappointed they did this, that rod has seen a lot of fish, still the same rod but with a stiffer action.

ill be trying it out once, and seeing how i like it, but more than likely ill be selling it and gettin a tfo. oh and this rod will be brand spanking new out of the wrapper.

if anyone is interested in buying my rod here is the link for the new st croix imperials. here is the link http://stcroixrods.com/product/imperial-fly

i have a 4pc 9ft 5wt, (i905.4) i pd 150 for this rod when i first got it and it was my first fly rod, again great rod, but not a big fan of fast action rods, i am going to ask 150 for it. again brand new and may only be used once.

I've wrapped a few rods with IM6 2 piece blanks that I have bought on ebay for less
than twenty big ones.  IM6s are a nice medium action.  I use recoil titanium guides
with a standard chrome tip top (Recoil's tip top sucks) , preshaped cork grip
with either a Strubel seat or Bellinger seat, take your pick they are both sweet.  I like
the old fashioned down locking seat which I think gives the rod a nicer feel for some reason.  You can have a really nice rod for $100.00 if you do it yourself.  Its not hard to do.
If you have any questions shoot me an email at yukonmk@sbcglobal.net.
