long story short, my simms freestones completely fell apart on me. what can i say i am hard on my equipment. here is the jist of it. simms cant fix them and wont replace them, but they are willing to hook me up with a 40% discount. i recently read ifish's post about the new vibram soles and think i am going that route. here is what i can pick up
in felt G-3 boots (discontinued) 115 Head waters 72
in vibram freestones 78 headwaters 90 rivershead 108 (recommended by mike at american fly) guide boot 120 G-4 132
those are my options and with mike knowing how much i fish and him telling me those would be the ones he would get if he was me. figure id ask if anyone out there has the riversheads and how do u like them. looks like they have less seams than the other boots and they look pretty rugid.
any advise would be greatly appreciated.
TIGHT LINES Brian

the riversheds are the schit. really comfortable and very durable. but a little on the heavy side, but that doesn't bother me.these are what i usually recomend to people at the shop.
I fish more than most people and the only problems I have had so far would be the laces basically falling apart. Other than that i think these boots would be your best choice out of those listed.
the next chice would be the g3 guide boot.

I've had the riversheds for awhile now and have nothing bad to say about them. I agree with cody, Durable, comfortable, a bit heavy. Brian I really think you should bring back the neoprenes I gave you and the tennis shoes, Weren't they D.C's ?
maybe some day ill bring those back out of hiding.

yup I got the simms freestones about 3 months ago and I love them but they don't help me catch more fish which is a real disappointment since art promised me they would ART!

BC, go for the Rivershed boots, especially at that price. You're no doubt a more aggressive wader than the average bear, so a little extra weight shouldn't effect your wading. The Guide is awesome too. I switched to the Guide Vibram boot from the leather G3's and have absolutely no regrets. Can't lose with the Rivershed, though.
Hopefully, you're not a size 11 in the Rivershed. I'm told that Simms is out of that size until March 2010, as are most dealers this season. Maybe your guy in Sac still has 'em?
well as far as size i am a 10.5, had 11 in the freestones and hated it when i needed to put on thick socks so going to get the size 12.

I love my G3's in vibram... relatively light and durable ....with the studs though...... in my opinion if you go vibram you need them studs!!!

If you get studs for the vibram, definitely get the new star cleats instead of the basic cleats. They are definitely the way to go, very grippy and have a little bit of a lower profile.
thanks guys for all the info, i am gettin the riversheads with vibram eco friendly, as far as studs/cleats, everyone including simms is out of the new star cleats until about end feb beginning of march, tony at simms is puttin me on the immediate call list when they get them and ill get those 40% off as well with free shipping so about 25 bucks. i will be gettin studds for them for now only place that has them is kienes. so ordering my boots thursday, should have them mid day next week, and i will need to go out and try them out as well as get the new boot skunk off.

Cody, consider leaving the retail promotion to the "Shameless Self Promotion" section of Bono's board. All other areas are for board opinion, specific discussion, entertainment and simply helping others with individual experience and insight.
Shops go here; "Shameless Self Promotion"... not here; "Equipment & Product Reviews".
or simply leave a PM.

hey whippersnapper, PMs are always a good way to go if u dont want to sound like a duschbad on the board.

Cool, BC. Glad it worked out for you and you got your cleats. Need a fish report on the Yuba!
Codym and LilWhipper - hope you understand, just wouldn't want to see this board turn into a sales channel for regional shops. I know you get my point. None the less, I'm sure BC appreciated Codym's help. Obviously, he's rockin' his new star cleats!
