I fished from 1 to 2 miles below the bridge today from 8:30am to 1:00 pm.  Did not land, hook, or see a fish all day.  I fished the same areas a couple of weeks ago and had one fish on.  It seems to me the fish population is way down from what it used to be a few years ago.  I have 40 years FF'ing experience including 20 years nymphing, so I'm not a beginner.  I think having a five fish limit on Putah (during the regular season), and Lake Solano, with no planting going on is really hurting both fisheries.  I'm not advocating stocking, but having a 5 fish limit, and no stocking makes no sense.

That's why it's gonna be catch and release all year round... Then you won't have to worry about it.

Dry flies have been my saving grace the last couple times out. Other than the evening hatch though, the fishing has been really tough lately.  A couple big fish are starting to show up though. I'm hoping things will pick up soon.
